Our Last Supper- Final 5 NYC Local Westside Eats

Our last night in NYC .. bitter and sweet but savory for sure. We had our last summer on the bare floors of our 6th floor apartment that we’ve habited for over a decade. These walls have seen so much they could write a book. But for now we are going to talk food because its the only thing that comforts me when I’m stressed to the max.

The last 2 weeks were BRUTAL but we made sure to enjoy our favorite local eats before the move out had ended. Check out our last local five below. Comment if you’ve been or if you’ve just added to your list!

5. Mama Empanada

4. Sushi/Poke

If its the weekend you best believe we are ordering our 3 roll special from our local sushi joint. We are still so happy that they always delivered to us from the east side! Maguro Sushi rarely lets us down with their kind and speedy service plus fresh fish!

IF if not delivery its,,, ACROSS THE STREET

POKE FUN

3. Aiyara Thai

WE may have ordered takeout from here for two meals a day on our rough hangover days. This place is the JAM! Everything! The staple pad thai, Joe’s Garlic Ginger, my spicy eggplant, and you can’t forget the top yum soup! The staff is so kind and the martinis are great! Stop by if you’re in the area!

2. Mercato Trattoria

By far our go to spot for Italian near the house. This secluded little spot has the perfect ambience for date night and the food never dissapoints! We’ve met the owners who are originally from Milan and they are delightful. Our go to is the Eggplant & Ricotta Rigatoni! Extra sauce! (chunky tomatose and warm salty cheese!

  1. Pio Pio

Peruvian chicken, rice and beans, salsa criolla, avocado salad… are you hungry yet?! This meal could feed a family of 5 for $40! if you’re lucky enough to be on location they have THE BEST SANGRIA homemade daily! The restaurant itself is huge on 10th and beautiful. But this has been our go to takeout for years! Here we are enjoying it on the floor on our last night!

Check out how we’ve recreated this meal at home using my recipe from the Quarantine Qookbook!
