Netflix’s new ‘Emily in Paris‘ is a fashion lovers dream mixed in with hilarious and relatable scenarios of an ex pats journey to Paris for work. Its inevitable that this show is dripping in couture fashion that we miss from the days of Sex in the City and a Devil Wears Prada. Its not like we all haven’t been sitting inside for the past few months while we conjure up our wanderlust for adventure, especially Europe! My heart fluttered for these over the top, mono tone, mismatched looks. I’m pretty sure my eyes floated over a new Chanel bag every day of Emily’s life in Paris.
After bingeing the series over 3 times, its no shock that I’ve spent days (literally) searching for similar items to build the ensemble yourself! Most of the goodies Lily Colins, (who plays Emily) are designer gems from previous seasons. Daily doses of Dior, strutting her Christian Louboutin’s, and plenty of Yoox. She balanced out some looks surprisingly with pieces from Brandy Melville and Kangol. Most items are sold out but lets be real. We are ringarde or basic as Pierre Cadault from the series repeats over and over. But honey, these looks are anything but basic so get to shopping and find the piece that takes you away to a place where your heart is happy.
There are 5 iconic pieces that you MUST add to your closet this season. No detail is missed in Emily’s style. Yes of course, she wore a beret or two but her anything but random looks scream, ‘watch me do me!’. These fashion foundations will kick your closet up a notch. The investment pieces will always be magical and more importantly, stay magical!
1. ‘I’M BLUSHING’ OVERCOAT
Emily’s face isn’t the only thing blushing in all the serious lov3 making scenes observed.. All shades of pinks, reds, and burgundy’s are sprinkled throughout the series.Multiple options are laid out below but what to look for is the long lapel lines. Oversized drop shoulder shape and side pockets. The original from the movie is a Kenzo cocoon belted coat for over $700. The series version looks more magenta or fuchsia than pink but any variation of this show stopping color will get you blushing!
Suggesting to take all the fun fashions from this post and incorporate it in your coat selection. There are some killer plaid coats from Avec Les Filles on the market that are to die for!
EPISODE 5
2. CHANEL POCKETS PLEASE!
Its all about COLOR and SHAPE however I don’t think most of us are willing to drop over $6000 on the Resort 2020 Chanel jacket. The version I found for you is a Chanel inspired blazer is from no other than Karl Lagerfeld. If we want anything to look and feel like Chanel without the hefty price tag, its from Karl. This blazer is $120 on sale and you get the long lines, the color, and 2 (of the 6) pockets.
Emily also pairs her green jacket with Brandy Melville plaid skirt and a green Staud bucket bag. (I could NOT find anything green in the oval bucket shape (bummer). But of course Zara has a similar version, an oval black crossbody with a cute gold buckle! I love her scarf which is definitely silk, and definitely designer. If your looking to splurge I found a similar scarf at Harrod’s from Dolce & Gabbana that just might bring you joy!
Her booties with this look are another level. They resemble decoupage art! They are So Kate Collage from Christian Louboutin. I paired some fun colored tweed booties from DSW. That will pair great with this great coat or the pink one! Top it all off with a hat! My favorite accessory and clearly Emily’s too! Her mixed media plaid hat from Kangol is sold out from Urban Outfitters but I found an amazon dupe!
YOUR SECOND OPTION
This isn’t green but ITS THE REAL WINNER. This & Other Stories belted wool jacket has the lines, the wool, the collar, and an amazing price tag of $179. All the links are below on how to replicate Emily’s look but with a purple twist! I’m in love with this lilac color and it will be perfect right into Spring!
3. PLAID & PLEASURE
If you’ve made it through one episode of this series you’ve probably already seen 4 different renditions of plaid in her fashion ensembles. This look is fierce, functional, and season-less! Veronica Beard is responsible for the chic statement in the series with her Dicky Blazer $241 and the Carito shorts $153 and those are the sale prices! Your set below is much more affordable and from River Island $60 for the blazer and $30 for the shorts!
A classic red beret which could not be missed her in staple Paris wardrobe. Her Chanel flap bag with pearls inspired Zara last year which I linked below. (hurry its from ebay) and strut another pair of ankle strap, patent Louboutin’s on a budget!
4. HOUNDSTOOTH IN COLOR
Everyone owns houndstooth in black and white so lets spice things up! Get creative and add color! Expanding your wardrobe with hot pastel sets from Storets in Europe to perfectly pink houndstooth cardi that just dropped at Target!
Emily sports a little bit of a messy combo below with her Dior houndstooth hat, denim jacket and skirt sporting the same print and tops it all off with a gray stripped tweed jacket. At a glance it may clash but Emily instantly makes it work with her positive attitude and pursuit of success!
5. DARE TO BE BOLD- PRINTS
If you take one piece of flair away from this show its must be JE NE PAS RANGUARD!! That translates to I am not tacky in French! And the word RANGARD is used excessively on Emily in Paris. She makes style choices that are BIG and Bold and never looks back.
The jacket above that she wears to the Pierre’s fashion show is from Off White floral mini dress with matching puffer jacket. What really brings the style to life is the hot pink beret that pulls the look together!
If I had to sum up all of her outfits it would be with one word. CONFIDENCE. Emily spares no moment to branch out into her own style, mix prints, wear color, and LIVE HER LIFE VIBRANTLY. Stop worrying about what others think and wear what sets your soul on fire! There is no force that can withstand the heat of your true happiness. Expressing myself through style makes me feel RADIANT! I truly hope you found something on here that does that for you as well.
